Both sheets and rolls are designed for manual applications and in very common usage as consumable items in most maintenance shops. Sheets are used extensively in woodworking applications
Sheets
Sheets can be AO cloth, AO paper and SiC paper. Flint Garnet and emery are also used for specific applications in wood work and electrical applications
The usual size for a sheet is 9” x 11”. Other common sizes are fractions of this such as 1” x 11” for file board use and 3 x 11” sheets for hand sanding pads.
Nonwoven sheets are referred to as handpads and are an essential item in any maintenance shop for general clean up. Their advantage over coated abrasive sheets being their conformability and inherent resistance to water and metalworking fluids.
Rolls
Rolls are 1” 1 ½” or 2” x 50 yards. The end user tears off the required length for use. Typical applications are burr removal after a pipe or small piece of metal has been cut or machined. Aw waterproof roll is very useful in plumbing applications. As with sheets there is no need for technical grain such as ceramic or zirconia as the user cannot apply the pressure required to break the grain down. Therefore rolls are almost always J weight aluminum oxide cloth products
