In House Test Report - Symmetry Medical

Objective

Provide a belt product for Symmetry Medical, better than Hermes CR456Z.   

 

Summary

The Heremes CR456Z 36 grit belt, provided by Symmetry, was tested against five of ARC's 36 grit belts using a belt grinder.

Each grind test was with titanium under constant pressure for ten minutes, weighing the titanium every minute to see how many grams of metal were removed per minute.

The silicon carbide PC221 belt beat the Hermes belt in the ten minute grinding test, 17.8g to Hermes' 16g. When the test was extended to 20 minutes the PC221 cut 21.9g to Hermes' 18.1g - an improvement of 21%.

The PC221 and the CR456Z had the same life.

The xirconia and ceramic belts did not perform as well in this test. The best performaer of these belts was R205.

ARC recommends that Symmetry test our PC221, 36 Grit Belt for similar life and better cut then Hermes CR456Z.
